Privacy Policy
Contractions (“the App”) is a contraction timer that helps you track labour contractions and optionally share a live session with a partner. This policy explains what information is handled and why.
Information we process
On your device, the App stores contraction timings, simple preference settings (such as whether this is a first baby and whether the hospital is far away), and temporary session state.
If you choose to share a session, the App sends the session code and contraction timing data to our sync service so your partner’s device can follow the same timer. Shared sessions are short-lived and are automatically removed after a period of inactivity.
If you scan a partner’s QR code, the camera is used only on-device to read the code. Camera images are not uploaded or stored by us.
What we do not collect
We do not require an account. We do not intentionally collect your name, email address, precise location, contacts, photos, health records, or advertising identifiers for analytics or marketing.
How we use information
Local data is used to run the timer, show averages, and provide informational labour guidance. Shared session data is used only to keep a partner’s view in sync while sharing is enabled.
Sharing
Session data is shared with a partner only when you enable sharing and they join with your code or QR. We do not sell personal information. Service providers that host the sync infrastructure may process technical request data (such as IP address and timestamps) as part of normal server operation and security logging.
Retention
Data on your device remains until you clear the session or uninstall the App. Shared session records on the sync service are temporary and expire after inactivity (typically within 48 hours).
Security
We use reasonable technical measures to protect session data in transit and at rest on the sync service. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children
The App is intended for expectant parents and birth partners. It is not directed at children.

Your choices
You can use the App without sharing. You can leave a shared session, clear contractions in Settings, revoke camera permission in system settings, or uninstall the App at any time.

Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
